Description

Yasunari whetstones are usually used for sharpening chisels and planer knives. This sharpener is also ideal for sharpening kitchen knives, scissors, axes and other tools.

The double-sided Yasunari sharpening stone with a grit of 1000/3000 will be useful for all those looking for a professional sharpening stone that is characterized by an attractive quality-price ratio.

The recommended Yasunari stone also has a plastic base that stabilizes the stone during sharpening.

One side - with a grit of 1000 - is suitable for regular sharpening of chisels and knives that have not suffered major damage. In turn, using the other side of the stone, which has a grit of 3000, we can easily finish and polish the cutting edge.

Before using the stone, soak it in water for about 10 minutes. After finishing work, dry the water stone well.

Technical data:

  •      Material: silicon carbide/white corundum
  •      Gradation: 1000/3000
  •      Length: 180mm
  •      Width: 58mm
  •      Height: 27mm

How to use a waterstone for sharpening?

1. Soak the stone in water for 10 minutes (a little less for smaller-grained stones, a little more for fine-grained stones).

2. Place the stone on a rubber stand or otherwise stabilize it so that the stone does not move during sharpening

3. Hold the tool so that the blade touches the whetstone at an angle of 15-20 degrees. Then, pressing the blade lightly, move it along the stone, pushing the tool away from you and towards you with uniform movements, all the time maintaining a constant angle of inclination. You can use the guide to maintain the right angle.

3. Repeat on both sides of the blade until the entire edge is sharp and there are no burrs anywhere.

4. Wet powder is released during sharpening. Do not wipe or rinse it, just continue with the action you have taken. The powder looks unsightly, but it is this residue that sharpens the edge.

5. Finally, wash the knives in warm water and wipe them dry.
